REDMOND, Wash. — March 18, 2009 — Today Microsoft Corp. announced the availability of Windows Internet Explorer 8, the new Web browser that offers the best solution for how people use the Web today. It can be downloaded in 25 languages at http://www.microsoft.com/ie8 starting at noon EDT on March 19. Internet Explorer 8 is easier to use, faster and offers leading-edge security features in direct response to people’s increasing concerns about online safety. A new study commissioned by Microsoft and the National Cyber Security Alliance and conducted by Harris Interactive Inc. shows that 91 percent of adults in the U.S. are concerned about online threats in the current economic climate, and 78 percent are more likely to choose a Web browser with built-in security than they were two years ago.
Hmmm… its 10th January 2009 in Malaysia, and I have yet to see the link to the beta download. Not even in Microsoft Download Center.
Later.. A note from Microsoft
Thanks for your interest in the Windows 7 Beta. The volume has been phenomenal—we’re in the process of adding more servers to handle the demand. We’re sorry for the delay and we’ll re-post the Beta as soon as we can ensure a quality download experience.
Even Microsoft faces a server overload!

A quick check on Microsoft website for the link to this beta download, it says, “Want to try the Beta? Come back the afternoon of January 9. And remember—this is just a preview. There’s more to come.” Argghh!
Faster, more responsive performance Nobody likes to wait. So we’ve focused on the basics that can impact the speed of your PC. Windows 7 starts up, shuts down, resumes from standby, and responds faster. You’ll have fewer interruptions and can recover more quickly from problems when they do occur because Windows 7 will help you fix them when you want.
Meanwhile, over at RumahDayak.com back office, I am busy backing-up my files before I delete the whole forum by 12th January.
The calls and SMSes keep on coming in since yesterday when most of the RumahDayak.com members knew of my intention to shut down the forum. Yes, people.. it is indeed a sad thing for me to do, but that is the best option for now, to put the issue to rest. And, furthermore, it is a way for me to show that I am responsible for all of you, and when I come back, it will be an entire new ball game..
I will be back with RumahDayak.com in a better, more organised, stricter moderation and a totally new image – good to rebrand the community this new year.
Until then.. I will be playing with Microsoft’s newest baby – Windows7! Or.. you may check out Nadai Nama latest media appearance at the Malay Mail.
I received my evaluation copy of Microsoft Windows Home Server last Friday after 17 days of waiting for this consignment to arrive from Singapore.
The package contain three disc namely, the server installation DVD, the Home Server connector CD and the Home Computer Restore CD.
With allocation of up to 10 computers connected and protected, this may be the cheapest solution for longhouses to share their files and getting connected to the upcoming WiMAX broadband. (You need a broadband Internet connection for Home Server to function).
I would love to assist any longhouse (who at the moment have the wireless broadband connectivity).. although its a little slow for a broadband, but it is worth implementing. at least you can check your email!
I will share with you my experience using the Home Server in my post to come.
