We would appreciate if your good office could give us more detailed information on the implementation and overall progress of this project. A transparent policy on this implementation would reduce the rakyat’s perception on the long overdue rural electricification program.

On behalf of our portal at http://www.rumahdayak.com, we welcome and shall support entirely the government plan to supply stable electricity to our longhouses and rural schools as announced by our Education Minister during his speech at the recently concluded UMNO Convention in Kuala Lumpur.

Let us know on how we could assist your ministry in the dissemination of the correct information to the rakyat.

Extract from Bernama:

KANOWIT, Dec 3 (Bernama) — The Federal Government has allocated RM400 million to implement power supply projects in Sarawak’s rural and interior areas under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.

Sarawak Second Minister of Resource Planning and Management Datuk Seri Awang Tengah Ali Hasan (rpt Hasan) said a contractor had been appointed to carry out the projects.

Priority would be given to areas accessible by road and proximity to the state grid, he told reporters before presenting land compensation totalling RM1.6 million to 114 landowners for the second phase of the Kanowit town-Ng.Ngungun-Ulu Ngemah Road project.

He advised the residents to cooperate with the government and the contractor to ensure speedy implementation of the rural electrification programme.

Awang Tengah also urged government departments and agencies entrusted with the task to implement infrastructure projects under ninth plan to liaise with the State Land and Survey Department.

“This is important, especially on matters pertaining to sites, which may require compensation, if they are privately-owned properties.

“It is also equally important to have sufficient funds for compensation otherwise the projects will be delayed,” he said.

Awang Tengah said a number of projects was affected in the past because the implementing agencies did not have adequate funds.

He assured landowners the Government would pay compensation for their land acquired for development projects based on the current market value.

  1. Well, I hope its worth the wait. And, it will be better if we can track the implementation on their website. At the moment it is too general. If only Datuk Seri Tengah announch it in greater detail, we would not start to write about it.. eh Datuk Seri!
