Here is the final pua weaved by my mrs. She joined the Iban weaving class (Nyungkit) organised by the Dayak Association Miri recently. The pua above took her 2 months to complete.


The Women Section of the Dayak Association Miri has kicked start their weaving (nyungkit) class today at the association premises near Imperial Mall. The class is still open for registration, for those who are interested to learn the Iban community art of weaving the pua kumbu.
Among those who were present during the brief launching ceremony was our President himself, Mr. Alexander Isut.

Earlier, the organising chairlady, Mdm. Jacqueline Selaka gave her welcoming speech, followed by our Women Section Chairlady, Mdm. Julia Jugak.


The simple ceremony ended with a late tea break, blessed by Mdm. Linda Nichol.

The association would like to thank Mdm. Roseline Suda for her willingness to be the tutor for the weaving class.


The Dayak Association of Miri Women’s Section will be organising the Pua Kumbu Weaving (Nyungkit) Class beginning 1st of July 2009. The class will be held from 8.00am – 4.00pm daily on Mondays to Fridays during the period at Ruai Francis Loke located on the 3rd floor of Rumah Dayak Miri.
The main objective of the weaving class is to maintain, perpetuate and promote greater awareness and skill of our traditional native culture and art amongst members of the local Dayak Communities.
This event is open to all members and non-members of the Dayak Association Miri. Those interested in Weaving Class 2009 (Nyungkit Method), please don’t be hesitating to contact us at:
