The haze, food and feet

The haze seems to be a common sight in Miri nowadays. Yesterday it was a good day, then suddenly today it is hazy. Someone was heard asking about the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings. Hahahaaa… ask any layman in Sarawak, who would believe the readings given by the Department of Environment (DOE). No matter how hazy it is (to the naked eyes), it is still not health hazard to the DOE by their API readings and their media release.

It will take a little bit of time for the DOE to gain public respect for their API readings. The reading this morning at 7am was 26 in Miri while Bintulu recorded a moderate reading of 57.

The photo above was taken at Kampung Sealine near Lutong. Anyway, the haze do not hinder for a good bowl of bahkut teh hahahaaa…

And, yes.. I know. NO worries to my readers who are against meat. Here is where we all can go for a nice foot massage.

Or.. anyone for a simple char kueh teow?

Haze haze haze

Miri, once again is blanketed by thick haze this morning. The haze is caused by forest fire around Miri over the past few days. Here are some shots taken this morning.

Traffic light at the t-junction to Miri Airport at 5.47 am.

Airport Road (infront of the army camp) at 6.25 am.

Traffic light infront of St. Columba’s Church at 6.40 am.

View from Puchong Flyover heading towards Bintang Megamall at 6.48 am.

Condition at Pujut Flyover at 6.56 am.

Piasau Business Park at 7.00 am.

Jalan Bulatan at 8.00 am.

The sun over Seberkas Commercial Centre. Shot taken behind car shade.

Close up of the sun. My first attempt behind the car shade. heheheheeee

We hope the authority will do something on the haze condition in Miri. The long overdue watch tower should be in place by now! It has been over two years and the reason why it is not there – JKR still working on the plan (hahahaaa.. ). Do we have capable architect? Or it is just plan simple – no fund, no budget.. wait for the next Malaysia Plan.

Watch Tower of Miri – idea come and go like the haze

Last year, during this period, Miri Division was faced with flood – in Batu Niah, at Bakong and Datuk Seri Najib was busy too, which includes, a visit to Suai, where the residents were badly affected.

Wang bantuan banjir was distributed, but to some rural dwellers, it never reach them until today.

That was last year, and this morning, the sign of the haze is back in Miri. Again, the Watch Tower is still no where to be seen as announced by DCM Datuk Patinggi George Chan last year and the year before. The idea comes and go just like the haze hahahaaa… and I hope it won’t cost a few billion to build because we are not sure if the PM will be in Miri to announce (again and again) funding at the billion (scary man to hear it while we didn’t hear of where the hell Malaysia would get the fund!)
