KUALA LUMPUR: Blogs can serve as a good platform for feedback from the people and should not be perceived as the “enemy” of the government, said blogger Syed Imran Al-Sagoff.

Although blogs on political issues were prone to contain lies and deceit as a method of character assassination, the same could not be said about political blogs written by former journalists.

“When I blog, I feel free to say anything without being restricted by the organisation that I work for,” said the former Bernama journalist who blogs at www.kudaranggi.blogspot.com (visit site).

He was speaking at a dialogue in a hotel here yesterday organised by the Information Department.

The dialogue, entitled “Between Blogging and News Writing: A Lie or Reality?” was attended by 100 public relations officers from various government departments and ministries.

He added that bloggers should also be expo-sed to ethics and law to avoid writing lies.

“Almost all political parties have their own blogs. Those politicians who used to condemn bloggers have also started blogging because they have realised that it is a medium to reach out to the people especially during elections,” he said.

Another panel member, Information, Communications and Culture Ministry’s broadcasting department director-general Datuk Ibrahim Yahaya said bloggers should reveal their true identities for integrity sake.

2009-11-10-KACANGMA

Chicken cook with kacang ma is a mother’s favourite especially after giving birth. Today, we can also find it as a dish sold at food outlet. For me, I like it best served with local brewed distillated rice wine. And, if you want to learn how to cook this dish, serve to Dyeyen’s How to cook Kacang Ma site.

Advisory: Due to its alcoholic content, please do not serve to Muslim and children.

Late yesterday, I received an email reply from the Miri City Council on this matter. The email came from my friend, Mr. Tay Boon Pang and we hope the process of designing this bridge won’t take so much time.

Tuan,

Thanking you for bringing up the above captioned matter for our attention.

I have checked with Council’s Engineering Department on the proposed overhead bridge near Boulevard Shopping Complex. The matter is currently being looked into by JKR, please.

Sekian, harap maklum dan terima kasih.
Pegawai Perhubungan Awam, Majlis Bandaraya Miri.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Kindly be informed, we have received feedback from (1)Jabatan Kerja Raya Bahagian Miri as below.

Reported matters :
Attn: JKR Miri
Cc: Ibu Pejabat JKR Sarawak, Kuching

Dear Sir,
May I know what is the status update on the proposed overhead crossing in front of Boulevard (Jalan Miri Pujut) and Morsjaya (Jalan Miri-Bintulu)?
When will the public see it being constructed or we need to wait for 2011 for the earth breaking ceremony?
Thank you.

Action Taken :
“Reference is made to above mentioned case regarding the proposed overhead bridge in front Boulevard Hypermarket crossing Jalan Miri Pujut.

Please be informed that the proposed overhead foot bridge is currently under design by Ibu Pejabat JKR. A tender shall be called once when the design is completed.
Thank you.”

We trust that you are happy with our service and that we may close this call. Kindly reply this email within 3 days if you find the service unsatisfactory.

Regards,
TALIKHIDMAT Centre

My comment: Thank you for the respond. With the growing number of workers working around Boulevard and business activities are deem to increase, this overhead crossing is a need. Everyday, we see this people being exposed to high risk of being knocked down by motor vehicles.

The one at Morsjaya might be put on shelf as there is no mention about it from JKR.

2009-11-08-UMAI

Umai is one of the traditional dish of the Melanau ethnic group of Sarawak. It is something like the Japanese sushi. Thanks to Jacqueline Selaka for the great umai – served by the beach!
