This is the latest reply I received from Talikhidmat Center on my recent complaint. The Center gave me three days to reply to the email about the service or it will be considered CLOSED.

I assume the three days is for me to verify on the service by Talikhidmat. And, on the actual work perform by the relevant section (what/which section?), is yet to be known of when it will be done.

And, the obvious thing is, if I do not reply in three days, the case is considered CLOSED and SOLVED!!! Malaysia Boleh! KPI good good ehh..

This is my reply emailed today (24 Sept. 2009) C.c to YB Andy Chia

To Whom it may concerned,

We visited the location this morning and nothing have been done. The hole is getting bigger with metal wires protruding out, which is a danger to children in the area. How can we be satisfy if it’s only a reply on email and the actual physical work has not been carried out.

And, the case is considered as SOLVED by a computer application?

Thank you.

I took the opportunity to balik kampung during the long holiday break. It was a pleasant seven hours drive from Miri to Saratok with brief ‘pitstops’ at Bintulu for breakfast and Sebangkoi National Park for lunch.

Before proceeding to Ulu Krian, we shop for some groceries at Saratok town (and of course a few crates of beer.. you’ll need it due to the lower temperature uphill).

At KM6 (near SK Praja), some major road repair is being carried out. The road was slippery, but we managed to passed through. Thank you to DE Cassidy (JKR Saratok) for the good work.

Second Day of Raya – Fish Pond

We didn’t do anything on the first day – it was fun just to sit down and enjoy the kampung atmosphere with family members and longhouse friends, over some beer. With the rain, it was a little cooler (I think it was around 16 degrees Celsius at night). We took our bath at 3pm at Sungai Krian or else, you may need to take your bath with some warm water back at the bilek.

We have two fish ponds, both filled with talipia fish. This Raya, we decide to drain one of the pond since it is no longer productive. The kids were equally excited and for some it was a first-time experience.

No pork!

Everyone voted for fish and kampung chicken! Here goes..

And..

Kampung chicken meat is usually tougher than those sold in the supermarket. It is almost like the ayam pencen meat in West Malaysia, except ours is more sweeter due to its kampung diet. And to have it grilled is a must if you enjoyed grilled chicken.

On the third day of Raya, we return back to Miri with ‘pitstops’ at Jakar bazaar in Sarikei for breakfast and in Sibu for lunch.

Ops Sikap

We did not meet any roadblocks during this year’s Ops Sikap. Despite that, we did not see any accident scene, too, along the way. However, there were a few incident of close overtaking by road users who rushes home for the Raya and back to the cities and town yesterday. Hopefully in the future, Ops Sikap is a reality and not merely good on the media and news.

Malaysia’s Penan tribe resist logging firms

Armed with spears and blowpipes, hundreds of indigenous tribesmen in the jungles of Borneo island have mounted a last-ditch attempt to try to save their land from logging.

Al Jazeera’s Divya Gopalan reports from Sarawak on the Penan, some of whom still live as nomadic hunter-gatherers in the rainforests of this Malaysian province.

They have been battling loggers since the 1980s, when large-scale industrial logging commenced in the Malaysian state. At times the Penan have faced intimidation and violent crackdowns at the hands of security forces hired by logging firms and Malaysian police.

Meanwhile, vast tracts of Sarawak’s rainforest has been stripped of its valuable timber. Now forestry firms are eyeing forest lands for conversion to oil palm plantations, which will likely leave the Penan even worse off since these estates support less game than even logged-over forest.

Opportunities lies ahead (for the contractors and YBs to get election fund) for the re-opening of two water treatment plants in Saratok, namely at Kabong and Roban. If not for the current dry spell, we will not see the urgency of more water treatment plant in Saratok.

On the other hand, this is the main reason why the rural population are not getting treated water as widely discuss and published by the media during Parliament seatings. Rupa-rupanya, cakap kosong saja! Good for show on prime time TV!

Ni utai di anti deh aya.. enti loji enda cukup kena meri ai ngagai rumah panjai.. Akai daii.. tak berasai endar dikemelik ka perintah. Maia ke meri speech pasal tu suba, munyi ke udah ba kaki tangga tanki ai, pala paip.. enda nemu nya tak agi di tisi langit biru din.. biru laban ke arap ke perintah Barisan.. (hehehee.. pembangkang balat agi ga enda ulih.. ukai enda percaya, tang sida tu maioh agi ke ka nyadi luyer ari ke ngatur pengidup kitai).. ehehehe

I can’t remember when it was being discussed, but it was not so long ago, that the Federal Government would be spending to provide rural Sarawak with treated water, and, recently to supply 95% of rural Sarawak with api (electricity).

To think along this concept.. we may not be getting our api next year because we have not build the dam yet! LOL..

Agi lama utai tu akih..

Kueh Chap, WZT Cafe

This morning, I brought my youngest son for breakfast at WZT Ca, located behind the newly opened Dragon Inn. I ordered my favourite Kueh Chap and Charles ordered his fried Kway Tiaw.

Fried Kway Tiaw

WZT Cafe has improved a lot on its table. Now their tables are more stable.. gone are the days when the shaky tables will end up with us spilling our drinks on the table. It is also covered with water proof semi-rubber table cloth.

Come early to avoid the ‘no more seat’ and ‘no parking’ issues. If you have any comments on the cleanliness, infrastructure, etc of the area, please let me know and I will be glad to bring up the matter to the City Council personally.
