Recovered Facebook conversation earlier today:

My status: nak POTONG lagi! Si dia cakap terlampau panjang, dan ambil lebih masa setiap kali saya……!

2009-10-25-POTONG-01

It is time to potong my hair again, since I took too much time in the washroom – washing it, apply a little bit of hair gel every morning. When the time taken comes to 2 minutes over – it reminds me of a hair cut – potong rambut! So, after our Sunday mass, I brought the family for breakfast at Ming Cafe (ya.. where else hor!).. then for the hair cut somewhere behind Naga Liar Nasi Lemak.

Meanwhile, over at Facebook, it was a different story. Hehehehee.. how people “read” the status eh. Here is the copy of my Facebook status responses.

2009-10-25-POTONG-02

Cheryl asked for her hair to be trimmed also since she will be performing during her kindergarten’s year end class presentation. Next year she will be in Primary 1.

2009-10-25-POTONG-03

She also requested for a hair wash..

2009-10-25-POTONG-04

What else is good after an early wake up call from the Home Minister, attended Sunday mass and getting my head massage! Ngantuk maiii lekO matO.

After the hair session, we proceed to check the book exhibition at Boulevard Miri.. and hmm.. just looked at this spelling error. Maybe that is the immediate result of our potong stim Education Ministry policy on the usage of English language in Malaysian schools. Didn’t get any books there, though, most of the books are in Chinese.

Next – a trip to our regular ayam potong goreng station – the tastier Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet at Jalan Bendahara. I don’t know about other KFCers, but this outlet seem to have tastier chicken than those elsewhere in Miri. And, yes, you are serve with plates (some outlet in Boulevard serve you with paper plates, and small mini saucer for your chilli sauce). Except for the noisy hand dryer, the outlet is still my favourite for the last 15 years.

Time to go home now.. and we decided to check if the water leak is still happening at the traffic lights at Pujut Corner.

2009-10-25-POTONG-07

Yupp… it is still as it was; despite numerous complaint from the public, the agencies seem to be slow in their action. Anyway, since their bonus pun kena potong to merely RM500.. nak cakap aper lagi? Budget itu cuma baget. And, next year, please, … please do not be surprise if a notebook purchase by government agencies would cost RM100k per piece. It is normal in Malaysia. A budget is only a budget! Good to hear but the reality is.. blurrrppppp!

Too much durian (I guess).

2009-10-19-LSS-02

A question to Dr. Julaihi. Is there any appointed teacher to look into students’ safety, in schools, where the river is one of the mode of transport? Don’t you think that the school management system needs to have a qualified Safety Officer (sort of) to look into issues like this?  With all the ISO in placed.. we may have overlooked this issue.

2009-10-19-LSS-01

And.. the sad news is.. all government agencies are to cut their budget next year. The operating budget will be cut!! Nak cakap aper lagi.. let us all live with hope.

Firstly, I thank Mr. Affendi of Lembaga Sungai Sarawak who have called me regarding the media report (Courting danger on roofs of speeding boats) about the overloaded express boat carrying school children. It is the responsibility of the public to inform the agencies about issue like this. And, it is the responsibility of the parents, the students, the teachers, the PIBG, the boat operators and LSS to continously remind and to conduct talks and seminars of river safety. It is not a one-time off thing, but a continuous scheduled program.

Humans being human tend to forget the safety aspect of river transportation.

On the overdue issue of the Flying Doctor Service, scene (as in the photo) may not be captured if the Health Ministry have looked into the issue of the Flying Doctor Service is Sarawak. But, thank God that the ministry have awarded the service to Layang Layang Aerospace. And, over RTM Wai.fm this morning, we could listen to the FDS schedule again.. So, folks in Ulu Kota (in Pakan) and Long Moh (in Baram) can seek treatment this morning.

Layang Layang Aerospace gets FDS

Company beats five others, including local hopeful Hornbill Skyways, to win lucrative contract

KUCHING: Layang Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd has been awarded the contract to operate the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) and Emergency Medevac Services (EMS) in Sarawak. State health director Dr Kamil Hassan yesterday confirmed that his department had received a letter from the Health Ministry, stating the company was awarded the contract, and would begin service on Oct 1.Layang Layang Aerospace, formed in Miri, received its letter of award before Hari Raya Aidilfitri last month and had begun operation of the EMS on Oct 1 and FDS on Oct 12.A reliable source told The Borneo Post yesterday that the company had passed a probationary period when it was asked to assist in providing interim FDS in 2008 alongside Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd.

Layang Layang Aerospace is said to have five helicopters comprising one Eurocopter AS355 and four Eurocopter BO105. Both models are twin engine rotor aircraft. Three of the helicopters would handle the FDS while the remaining two cater to EMS. All five helicopters are on a ‘lease to purchase’, meaning the company is renting them now but will eventually own them after a certain period, said the source.

Both models are equipped with high frequency radio for coastal areas (as is normally used in the interior) and normal navigational frequency. The company is setting up offices in Kuching and Sib to better coordinate its services throughout the state.

Layang Layang Aerospace has 15 years’ experience in the aviation industry. Registered and started in Miri, it expanded to Sabah and set up operation base in Kota Kinabalu in February 2000.

The company provides the Skyvan service that delivers fuel to the highlands, especially the Bario, and has a chairman and board of directors experienced in the aviation industry.

Layang Layang Aerospace beat five other bidders to the contract: Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd, Sabah Air Sdn Bhd, Weststar Aviation Sdn Bhd, SAR Helicopters Sdn Bhd and Systematic Aviation Services Sdn Bhd (SAS).

Sarawak was without a permanent FDS and EMS Providing interim services to rural folk after the government terminated the contract of the previous operator, SAR Helicopters Sdn Bhd, in 2007.

After that Layang Layang Aerospace and Hornbill Skyways were called in to assist in providing interim services to rural folk.Hornbill Skyways, which had operated the FDS and EMS in the state for decades, got grounded in Sept 2004 following a spate of crashes involving its Bell 206 helicopters.

Hornbill Skyways executive chairman Aidan Wing on Thursday said Hornbill hoped to get back the contract since it had already spent RM70 million on new twin engine choppers to meet the contract’s expectations.

Aidan could not be reached for comments yesterday.

In Progress (Pending Agency Action)
Assigned to agencies below for action: Jabatan Kerja Raya Bahagian Miri

It was quite hazy this morning in Miri. Upon reaching the Pujut 7 roundabout, the traffic comes to a crawl. I suspected an accident could have happened further down the road leading to Lutong.

2009-10-13-KANCIL-01

Obviously, yes.. a Kancil was involved in an accident.

2009-10-13-KANCIL-02

The driver may have lost control and rammed the metal protector on the right side of the road.

2009-10-13-KANCIL-03

This is not the first time that an accident happen surrounding this location. If you drive along this road, you will be able to see tyre marks of previous mishaps. So, slow down when you are using this stretch.

On the other hand, it is high time for the government to expedite the second Miri by-pass stretching from the Miri Airport to Kuala Baram to ease the increasing number of road users in Miri. In view of this issue, it is high time, too, that YAB Pehin Sri Taib reshuffle his cabinet and focus on urban development.

Haze

The haze is back and what was proposed by the relevant agencies during the last haze has not be implemented, despite the news report that it WILL BE looked into ASAP. It has come to a point that the rakyat could not trust the words of the government this days. Susah nak percaya sekarang. The previous two haze situation called for a watch tower. Still no sign of it.

2009-10-13-HAZE-01

Yesterday, there was a bush fire along the Miri by-pass, yet.. (as usual) because no one complaints, the authorities were not there to look into it. And when the rakyat complaints via Talikhidmat, we are being served by a computer program!

2009-10-13-HAZE-02

Taman Tunku Residents

Taman Tunku has become a fast growing residential area. With the expansion of Taman Jelita, two secondary schools, and a primary schools, there is an urgent need for the government to build a second road connecting Taman Tunku with the Miri-Bintulu “Highway” (does it feel like riding on a highway in Peninsular Malaysia?).

2009-10-13-ROAD

The residents of Taman Tunku also need a Klinik Kesihatan, Klinik Ibu dan Anak, or even a hospital! That should ease the crowding situation at the Maternity Clinic currently located on a shophouse lot! How could we call ourselves a city when this issues still exist?

Finally.. we see frequently survey being conducted (hitung jumlah kenderaan) on our roads. Yang tak muncul is a bigger road!! Well, at least the employees can claim overtime (if any). YB Datuk Amar Abg Jo.. if you are reading this, please do something urgently in Taman Tunku (its PBB YB Aidan Wing’s area). Terima kasih and congratulations on your new (and more work) appointment as the Minister of Urban Development.
