I took time off this morning to get my kids’ Borang Maklumat Pelajar which requires the Pengulu to verify and sign.

The Pengulu’s office is located right infront of the St. Joseph Cathedral Parish of Miri.

Pot hole

Beside the long queue of parents seeking the Pengulu’s signature, this missing drainage cover (below) can be a costly affair to small vehicle like motorbikes and kancil.

Pot hole

By the look of it, the cover have been missing for quite sometime and it can pose danger to parents who use that road to pick up their children from the nearby school.

While the location is just mere a 100 metres from the Miri City Council office, I am sure, it could not have gone unnotice by their staff.

I hope something urgent to be done before any accident happen.

It was launched by our Prime Minister yesterday. I downloaded the document from the Education Ministry’s website early today and have a quick browse through.

If our Education Minister keep his word and delivers, the plan will definitely create a quantum leap as far as education for the Dayak community. Having been in classroom that do not have stable electricity (eventhough the power lines are above their heads), clean treated water, demotivated teachers, we hardly hear of the A’s being produced in rural schools.

We’ll keep our finger crossed until 2008 while most of the projects are being implemented.

It may also give me another insight of where I will be if there is indeed electricity, water supply and connectivity in the rural areas!

Updated on 19 January 2007 (include photos of donation from Chi Sing Khor, PETRONAS and Mercy Malaysia).

Petronas donated gas cylinders to the victims.

Mercy Malaysia donated other items too.

Lorry loaded with other public donation to the victims.

This is how it look like after the fire.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Rh. Ruang, located at Sungai Nat in the Tinjar district was gutted by fire before midnight on 14th January 2007, which marked the first longhouse fire in Sarawak this year.

The fire was believed to have started from the ruai of Door No.5 of one of the two blocks that was burnt down.

The two photos above shows what is left behind of the two blocks of long house. Now Rh. Ruang is left with only one block, which house the current village chief.

I  am wondering how much Sarawak is selling electricity to the West Malaysian. When the funding comes from the Federal Government, does it means, Sarawak will not be ‘selling’ its natural resources to them?

The State Government have to be transparent with this deal, or else, the rakyat will be in the dark. The last time we heard about the cable project, it was only heard as “plan to revive” and today, the minister announces it has obtained the green light!

How come the people of Sarawak are not well inform of this? Who and when did they talk about it without the media coverage?

Worst – the recent case of Rh. Nyawin which is just about half an hour from Bakun! The losses have started to appear, and the gains have always been swept under the carpet.

Yo! people, Bakun Dam is the blue eye project of Pak Lah, and we have to be clear about this matter. Say, I am anti-government about this, yes I do, IF it is not clearly explained to the people.. They took 95% of our oil and gas revenue, and now at what percentage will they take our natural resources and put the whole of the third division exposed to natural disaster, if the dam broke down!.. Yalarrr, all the geological studies conducted will favour them, just like all the collapsed condos in Klang over the years. They are good with reports anyway.

And, if the Education Minister failed to deliver his promise by end 2007, the people of Sarawak have all the rights not to vote the Barisan Nasional no matter who stands in that constituency.

This is something for all Malaysian to look at comes third week of 2007! Probably the ministry of education is tweaking the RM23 billion budget to take into consideration the major losses and reconstructing of schools due to the worst flood in major states in the Peninsular.

Nevertheless, we in Sarawak are, for one, waiting for 2007 with great expectation of Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein’s speech during last year’s UMNO Convention (ref. my blog: Hisham, its too good to be true)

I just hope to drive back home in December and see SK Nanga Gerenjang well lighted up with the minimum Internet connection so that I can post my blog from there. Equal expectation too from my fellow portal members who will be returning back home to their longhouses in Ulu Teru, Tinjar, where SK Pengarah Entrie is located and is still running on diesel-powered generator set (forget about the subsidised diesel, which was only meant for the majority Malay community).

Cut short the 13 years, one year, one mission, RM23 billion under the 9th Malaysia Plan. Another “thing” to look at with our “not so implemented” PM’s report card (so far).
