How adorable it was to receive a pink strawberry flavored cake with two ultra-man from my kids, nieces and nephews on the occasion of my 42nd birthday last night.

Earlier in the evening, we had a small family dinner at the New Tanjong Seafood, together with my mother-in-law who shares the same birthday with me. She is 66 and received a cheese cake from us.

The dinner menu was a collective agreement by all members of the family and here was their choice. John ordered fried clam with lemon grass and oyster sauce.

Charles ordered fried changkok manis with egg.

Cheryl ordered her favorite hot plate Japanese tofu.

I ordered the ambal cooked with curry.

And, Chak-Lut ordered the fish head curry together with bean curd with salted vegetable soup.

And here are some of the photos taken during the simple birthday dinner.

I would like to thanks the following people who have sent me birthday messages and sms. It was so thoughtful and may God bless you and your family, too.

2009-12-15-CRAB

Bought a kilo of medium size crabs at RM15/kg yesterday. Dinner was served with chillie (with belacan) crab and of course, it must be with Sarawak white pepper – those you get from the longhouse.

Tired of eating the same food in Miri? Maybe you should try the bah kut teh at Ling Garden’s coffee shop located near the Krokop Wet Market at Krokop Lorong 10. The bah kut teh is prepared and serve by an elderly Chinese man. By the age, he must be an expert in bah kut teh (you think so? Check out and try larr!)

Ohh.. just a reminder; if you are in a hurry, please don’t stress yourself to dine here. It’s an old man preparing your meal, ok! After a while of waiting (errr.. I finished my steamed chicken rice before the bah kut teh finally arrived), the rice finally came.

The rice is served with deep fried pork fat.  Aiyaa.. never mind the diet, good things are really fatty one.. heheheee.. So, if you are into those slim shape, go and tapau your meal from home.

2009-11-18-BAHKUTTEH-02

The bah kut teh is served with a combination of pork rib,  the small little toes, sweet intestine, a little three-layer meat, dried bean curd and mushroom, green veggie and a little of pork ear.

No need to ask me how it taste, otherwise, I won’t post it here.. here! And, after 10 mins of nyam nyam..

2009-11-18-BAHKUTTEH-03

Gone in 10 mins! My late grandpa always remind me, never waste your food because God have given you what you need today.

And, if you are not happy about this post, go and try it yourself.. (what? How much?… Ohh.. it’s RM7 per serving). Here is a map for your navigation guide.

No, no.. the Chinese man did not pay me to write this ** smile **

2009-11-10-KACANGMA

Chicken cook with kacang ma is a mother’s favourite especially after giving birth. Today, we can also find it as a dish sold at food outlet. For me, I like it best served with local brewed distillated rice wine. And, if you want to learn how to cook this dish, serve to Dyeyen’s How to cook Kacang Ma site.

Advisory: Due to its alcoholic content, please do not serve to Muslim and children.
