UPDATE: Improvement to Jalan Pantai

We received copy of the official respond from the Miri City Council to Pusat Talikhidmat on our request for the improvement to Jalan Pantai in Miri.

Here is the extract:

Complaint from Encik James Joshua Guang on improvement to Jalan Pantai

May I refer to the above complaint received from Encik James Joshua Guang through Talikhidmat.

Please be informed that in view of the extent and scope of the requests received, the Council needs time and sufficient fund to deal with issued identified. Nevertheless, the matters are receiving Council’s Engineering department attention:

  1. Drainage system
  2. Portholes along stretch of road from SSB HQ to Piasau camp
  3. Resurfacing of road at SMK Lutong
  4. Widening the whole of Jalan Pantai (subject to availability of fund)

    I’m an avid visitor of your blog. Your wonderful photos brings insight on Miri’s places for recognition, especially those whom does not frequent much to this quiet City (it used to be 10 yrs ago). Your recent postings on the drainage over Jalan Pantai, pertubed me indeed! Providing visitors to your blog on the extraction letter from relevant authority, in response to a complaint letter, does not deserve credits, to one that inspires immediate execution and provoke poor public delivery system.

    It is an insult to those whom have read the response letter, which no greater than mere social statement of a known written agenda, in an aim to pleased the ordinary society. Any fool can write such response, utter cheap publicity. The fact is, your complaint does not carries and will never seize much inpound progress of the said issue. It is indeed shameful, for Sarawakians, even the simplest roads make over, would requires people to endeavour such difficulties. In other countries even Thailand & Singapore, the authorities has routines checking over all inner roads leading into sensitive spots. Each lanes / roads which forsees great danger and safety to road users, will be alerted and rectify within 48 hrs time frame. They do not wait for the public funds or one scapegoat to charge them accountable!

    If you’re really serious in serving the public; I suggest, you should give datelines to the relevant department, failure with the YB or ADUNs will be forced to rectify the matter immediately. These representatives are well paid to serve the public including road maintenance and drainage across the city. While I admire, your intiative to highlight such grievances, there’re plentiful of issues such as denggi, traffic jams, poor public parking management system, lack of pedestrians walk and etc…that needs immediate attentions for Miri folks.

    Of all what is said, i hope this to be posted. Let’s make your blog more lively, exciting, dramatic and social obliged to all visitors. I am no drama queen, I am just an ordinary ‘kapchai’ seller
