Manned by only one medical assistant, a nurse and one attendant, Klinik Komuniti 1Malaysia was officially opened by YB Tuan Haji Ahmad Lai, the Member of Parliament for Sebuti this afternoon.

Despite the limited budget from the federal government, the resident of Taman Tunku and its surrounding are generally pleased with the opening of the clinic.

YB Aidan Wing who spoked at the function told us that it would cost the patient RM6.80 for a return trip to the Polyclinic in town. Hence, with the opening of Klinik 1Malaysia, it will definitely save and benefits the lower income group, who are mostly from the nearby village of Kpg. Lusut.

YB Tuan Haji Ahmad Lai urged the people to continue supporting the Barisan Nasional in order to benefit from the various development plan that will be implemented in his area.

I was personally told that, the government is seriously identifying a suitable site for the Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak and probably a dental clinic.

jamesjg.com thank the government for the quick implementation of this clinic, since it was brought up last year, following the relocation of the Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak to a shoplot in town.

Residents may get light treatment there for as low as RM1 per treatment, RM15 for foreigners and free for children.  We hope the medical department could seek more funding and staff to manned the clinic, as three staff is sure not enough. I was told by an officer that yesterday the three staff attended to 130 patients from 10am – 10pm. It also mean, those staff could have skipped their meals!

Be thankful and for those who can afford to pay, kindly proceed to a private clinic, as the main objective of setting up this clinic is for the benefit of the lower income group, and hence, is not a competitor to the nearby private clinics.

Some photos taken during my visit to the Good Shepherd Church in Lutong. Present were En. Ripin Lamat, the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sarawak and other BN Youth leaders from PBB, SUPP, SPDP and PRS.

Detail joint press release to follow in the various media tomorrow.

RumahDayak.com and its members visited the Scully children yesterday morning. The visit was made to hand over building material for the Scully to replace their wall and to build a toilet. Other kitchen items were also given away.

The simple ceremony was witness by YB Aidan Wing, who is also the ADUN for Lambir, and Stephen Dinggai, who represented the C12 Golfers’ Group.

The charity drive managed to collect over RM3,000 for the purchase of various building material and other items. RumahDayak.com would like to thank all the members who have generously donated to our drive to build a home for the homeless Scully children in Lambir. Heartfelt appreciation also goes to the Methodist and SIB churches who have render their assistance to the family concern. Special thanks also goes to YB Aidan Wing, YB Andy Chia, Stephen Dinggai (C12 Golfers), Vernon Kedit, John Nelson and his ACERGY Crews, Pemancha Wilson Siang Lim, and semua bala nembiak Tr. Linggie Blaja who have gave us the needed support to make this drive a success.

Seen above, I took the opportunity to brief our YB Aidan Wing on RumahDayak.com’s various community services that has been done in the past. We are happy to be able to work with the various government agencies in addressing the rakyat’s problem.

Urban Renewal Center

RumahDayak.com welcomes the government initiative to transform Lambir into a new residential and commercial centre under Urban Renewal Centre project. I was informed by YB Aidan that the government will be upgrading the Lambir road leading to the Lambir cemeteries, and the road will also link Lambir with Kampong Lusut, as well as nearby Taman Tunku and Taman Jelita. The upgrading work cost RM16 million and will be implement soon.

A new stadium will also be constructed and it will supplement Lambir being one of the urban renewal centre.

Tamu Kpg. Lusut

YB Aidan also told me that the government will be constructing a tamu at Kampung Lusut and also a mini “rumah asap” for the panggang lovers… With the construction of this tamu, it will stimulate the economic status of the surrounding areas and especially for the resident of Kg. Lusut, where they can sell their jungle product and fruits.

RumahDayak.com members are committed to assist the various agencies in addressing the rakyat’s problem.

Still a bumpy final farewell

First, the not so good news.. The proposal to upgrade the road leading to the various cemeteries in Lambir was not submitted by our District Office to the ICU unit of the Prime Minister’s Dept. Nevertheless, the District Office gave assurance that they do have a budget for the proposal. YB Ahmad Lai will follow up with the District Officer.

Fine tuning

The proposal for a second link road from Taman Tunku/Taman Jelita to the main road/Airport Road is already in YB Ahmad Lai’s office and is under review.

Klinik 1Malaysia

Soon the residents of Taman Tunku will enjoy the “almost free” medical services near their doorstep with the opening of Klinik 1Malaysia next to a gif shop or nearby Submarine 3. The opening of the clinic is indeed a relief to the growing population of Miri, especially those coming from Taman Tunku, Upper Riam and Lambir.

Thank you to YB Ahmad Lai and Lukanisman Awang Sauni for the action and update to jamesjg.com and the residents of Taman Tunku/Taman Jelita.

It was THE first day of Cheryl’s formal education yesterday. She will be using the English medium for the teaching of Mathematics and Science. The issue was widely discussed throughout Malaysia and even made its way to the Malaysian Cabinet.

Cheryl is enrolled with SK St. Columba in Miri. The primary school was opened in 1929 and is one of the oldest mission school in Sarawak. Despite its Sekolah Kebangsaan name, it is still a mission-funded school.

On the way to school! Started with classes in the afternoon at 12.30 pm.

Met new friends, McLaren Ludan anak Bada.

For the next three weeks, Cheryl will undergo the induction classes together with the rest of the other Year 1 students.
