2009-10-14-PDP

It took nine years to draft, come, this October 19th, it shall be tabled in Parliament. While the Pakatan Rakyat boys fight for their numbers in the legislative, issues like this are not likely to be in their radar.

This is just one issues.. and there so many other issues that needs to be address as be move towards attaining the developed country status.

It was quite hazy this morning in Miri. Upon reaching the Pujut 7 roundabout, the traffic comes to a crawl. I suspected an accident could have happened further down the road leading to Lutong.

2009-10-13-KANCIL-01

Obviously, yes.. a Kancil was involved in an accident.

2009-10-13-KANCIL-02

The driver may have lost control and rammed the metal protector on the right side of the road.

2009-10-13-KANCIL-03

This is not the first time that an accident happen surrounding this location. If you drive along this road, you will be able to see tyre marks of previous mishaps. So, slow down when you are using this stretch.

On the other hand, it is high time for the government to expedite the second Miri by-pass stretching from the Miri Airport to Kuala Baram to ease the increasing number of road users in Miri. In view of this issue, it is high time, too, that YAB Pehin Sri Taib reshuffle his cabinet and focus on urban development.

Haze

The haze is back and what was proposed by the relevant agencies during the last haze has not be implemented, despite the news report that it WILL BE looked into ASAP. It has come to a point that the rakyat could not trust the words of the government this days. Susah nak percaya sekarang. The previous two haze situation called for a watch tower. Still no sign of it.

2009-10-13-HAZE-01

Yesterday, there was a bush fire along the Miri by-pass, yet.. (as usual) because no one complaints, the authorities were not there to look into it. And when the rakyat complaints via Talikhidmat, we are being served by a computer program!

Taman Tunku Residents

Taman Tunku has become a fast growing residential area. With the expansion of Taman Jelita, two secondary schools, and a primary schools, there is an urgent need for the government to build a second road connecting Taman Tunku with the Miri-Bintulu “Highway” (does it feel like riding on a highway in Peninsular Malaysia?).

2009-10-13-ROAD

The residents of Taman Tunku also need a Klinik Kesihatan, Klinik Ibu dan Anak, or even a hospital! That should ease the crowding situation at the Maternity Clinic currently located on a shophouse lot! How could we call ourselves a city when this issues still exist?

Finally.. we see frequently survey being conducted (hitung jumlah kenderaan) on our roads. Yang tak muncul is a bigger road!! Well, at least the employees can claim overtime (if any). YB Datuk Amar Abg Jo.. if you are reading this, please do something urgently in Taman Tunku (its PBB YB Aidan Wing’s area). Terima kasih and congratulations on your new (and more work) appointment as the Minister of Urban Development.

This photos were taken last week onboard one of the express boat plying Miri to Marudi.

2009-10-10-EXPRESS-01

Only a handful of the students are using their life jacket. Are the teachers who are responsible for their safety busy giving motivation talk (as recommended by a minister, that, students-parents motivation are best done by teachers and not by NGOs)?

2009-10-10-EXPRESS-02

Or, do we need for something bad to happen before the authority start to act again, and the press starts to highlight all the measures taken to curb this issue. Later, 3 months down the road, it comes back to square one!

2009-10-10-EXPRESS-03

Where are the regular check by the authority on this express boat? Is their Passenger Safety Certificate still valid? Are there enough life jacket onboard for everyone? Too much question, too little answer, less monitoring (no budget la tu..).

Flying Doctor Service

2009-10-10-EXPRESS-04

This patient needs urgent medical treatment. The FDS is no where available and the patient will need to take a 3-hour express boat ride to reach the nearest medical centre. The FDS is an ancient issue in Sarawak. The rakyat are caught in between the operators and the government, tender pricing, etc. Kalau harga itu terlalu rendah (which is most preferrable by the government) of course lah we get poor service. If the government do not solve this, of course lah pot pet sana sini!

Maybe (just maybe and I perceive it that way).. the people in the Health Dept. have been there for too long! Look at FDS, look at the Sri Aman health issues… apa cerita sudah jadi?

2009-10-11-KWAY

The day start with my favourite breakfast – fried kway teow. And later in the afternoon, I drove to Bekenu in search for durian! Unfortunately, most of the durian have been sold in the morning, but I did manage to buy a few at the junction to Kampung Kejapil.

On the way back, upon request from this lady, we made a stop at the Miri Esplanade. Here are some photos taken yesterday.

After two weeks of Internet charity drive, RumahDayak.com managed to collect more than RM2k for Jang Enggan’s family. Leading the donation list are YB Datuk Douglas Ugah and YB Andy Chia, and other members of RumahDayak.com.

Yesterday our members were at Jang’s house to do some electrical wiring work. Thank you to these teachers from SM Teknik Miri who have volunteered to do the work. Thumbs up to Uchu Sanggul Labung and cikgu Alister.
