This week is the most tiring so far this year for me. I have piles of office work that needs to be clear at designated hours, meetings to attend for the organisation of the Miri level Gawai closing dinner, where our Deputy Chief Minister, YB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Alfred Jabu is the Guest of Honour. Other ministers, heads of department would be there too.
Among the program line up is the presentation of education award to the Iban outstanding students in the 2006 public exams. Also, we will be launching the Iban Business Directory and the Women Weaving Class (launching to be perform by YB Senator Dato Sri Empiang Jabu).
As of today, all the preparation seem to be running smoothly and being the head for the Publicity Committee.. all table sold!
We are also grateful to Dtk Patinggi Jabu for his readiness to declare open the first Iban-owned resort in Miri – the Gua Longhouse Chalet, located at Bakam Road, about 15 minutes drive from Miri City. The resort is owned by John Linang who came from Sebangki Pandak in the Lubok Antu District.
Gua Longhouse Chalet is located about 2 kilometers from the Bakam Motor Cross track, as well as the Tamu Ikan Kampung Bakam, and about 5 minutes drive from the Luak Esplanade along the Borneo Coastal Highway towards Bekenu District.
His investment of RM1.5million is much appreciated since the resort will be a hit among Ibans and other Dayaks who wants to experience the longhouse atmosphere. Equipped with all the element of a traditional longhouse and the modern luxury bedroom (with aircond).. I am sure the resort will be the next gathering place for the members of RumahDayak.com!
Will see you back at the portal soon and heartiest congratulations to all the Iban students who have score good result in their public examinations last year.
Below are some of the photos that I took recently.
